Short Bio

My bio from the OpenSource Connections website:
Arin has worked with a wide variety of clients, including online retailers, large commercial and government applications, and small startup companies. He graduated from the University of Virginia with a degree in Electrical Engineering, and after a couple of years of designing circuit boards, joined Value America in 1999 and has been developing internet-related software ever since. As a Software Architect at Musictoday, he led development teams that designed applications for fanclubs and ticketing applications, including leading their first .NET project. The ticketing system he architected is still in use for thousands of musicians and venues, including artists like the Dave Matthews Band, and is a very high volume and heavy load system. Prior to joining OSC, he founded Donor Town Square, a company providing online fundraising tools for political candidates and charities, and also started his own software consultancy. Arin has led teams of various sizes and using many software development methodologies, and he has found Scrum and Agile to be the most effective. Arin is an adjunct instructor for a software engineering course at Virginia Commonwealth University’s School of Business. He is also working on a masters degree in IT Management from the University of Virginia’s McIntire School of Commerce. Arin’s love of software development is driven by the pleasure of helping clients turn their product and application ideas into reality.
