Program Summary
Agile2009 is building on the success of our last conference, when over 1500 people attended the conference in Toronto. Agile2009 continues with the metaphor of a festival with multiple stages to attract audiences with different interests represented by personas. The stages within our program are designed and organized by experts (acting as stage producers) who are truly passionate about their particular areas. Each stage will have a feel of a smaller, focused mini-conference while providing the conference attendee with wide choice of topics to choose from.
Personalize the Program
Do you fit multiple personas? Tailor a program to fit your interests by using personas and skill level to match the sessions to your goals/needs. Navigate the sessions by stage, by personas and select you favorite sessions via an iPhone app.
Program Overview
We held an open call for session proposals for experience reports, panels, tutorials, research papers, workshops, and activities for any of the stages mentioned below via our online submission system. We are now pleased to announce the program. We've made a smart-phone friendly Pocket Program. You can also download the Program Guide Overview in PDF.

Open from 9:00am Monday until 12:30pm Friday, Open Jam is a place to share questions and quandaries, talk to the experts, demonstrate software and techniques, and experiment with emerging Agile practices and ideas. More at the Open Jam Stage.
Programming with the Stars (PwtS)
Come join the lunchtime fun at the developer jam stage! Each day, from 12:45 – 13:30 select conference attendees will be paired with legendary agile programmers to perform live on stage before a panel of famous (and outspoken) judges. Watch the contestants test-drive tricky algorithms, refactor poorly designed code, and more. Audience members cast votes for who should ultimately be crowned as the winning duo. Find more details here.
Live Aid
At Live Aid you work to learn new skills at conferences. We help put that work to good use. The LiveAid Lab allows attendees to participate in a real agile project for a Not for Profit. Our lab will be staffed with experienced mentors to help you maximize your ability to contribute and learn in the lab. Participate by donating Time and participating for 10 minutes or a Day, observing an Agile Project in Action or donating money to help the cause We are dedicated to creating a unique lab experience that uses real projects with real deliverables.
Take a S.E.A.T
Taking place during exhibit hours in Riverside Center Exhibition Hall, we invite you to Take a S.E.A.T [Services, Education, Agile, Tools]. This is the place to see agile2009 sponsors present their products, services, tools and other information that doesn’t exist elsewhere. See how these real-world solutions can help solve problems while you gain access to some of the most innovative people in the industry. Looking forward to “Taking a S.E.A.T” with you! You can also download the Take a S.E.A.T Program Guide in PDF
Pattern Languages of Programs (PLoP)
This year, the Patterns of Programming Language Conference, PLoP, is co-located with Agile 2009. PLoP is August 28 - 30, with a Patterns Writing Bootcamp for pattern newcomers, August 27. Spend two and a half days in intense workshops, discussions, book reviews, invited talks, and games. This year we have pattern workshops on people,
process, architecture and design, and security. To register see http://hillside.net/plop/2009/index.php?nav=registration
We invite you to join us, whether you are an aspiring pattern consumer, author, or aficionado.
AAFTT Workshop
AAFTT Workshop takes place Sunday, August 23rd, 9:00 - 17:00. This workshop is sponsored by the Agile Alliance Functional Testing
Tools (AAFTT) Program. The mission of this program is to advance the state of the art of automated functional testing tools used by Agile
teams to automate customer-facing tests. The theme of the 3rd AAFTT workshop is 'hands-on': participants will directly explore and discuss existing tools. The key outcome will be artifacts that help others understand the strengths and weaknesses of tools, and how to evaluate tools for their agile project.
As an open-space style workshop, the content comes from the participants, and we expect all participants to take an active role.
Participants must have interest and experience in creating and/or using automated functional testing tools/frameworks on Agile projects.
Due to room constraints, we can accommodate up to 30 participants. Registrations will be approved to those participants that successfully
complete the registration process.
