Agile is taking off in the marketplace, and agile processes are the norm for helping IT departments deliver great software… but what about the business? What about the product manager? What about the software itself? What can we do to ensure that we build the RIGHT software with the RIGHT features… the features that will make us the MONEY!
This session will introduce the concepts of Business Value Metrics and Customer-Based Design a simple formula to help Business Stakeholders evaluate their application feature by feature to ensure they are building the MONEY (honey.)

Process/Mechanics

This 3-hour hands-on workshop will introduce Customer-Based Design principles (different than user-centrered design!) and easy tools to manage the product development lifecycle.
The presenters will start with a walkthrough of Customer-Based Design practices using real examples from projects.
The presenters will then introduce two worksheets, the Project Pitch and the Project Snapshot. The Project Pitch summarizes Customer-Based Design thinking and quickly allows Business Stakeholders to understand the customer-drivers of a project and evaluate the potential returns. The Project Snapshot is a tool for Business Stakeholders to check in with the delivery team each iteration to ensure that through scope change, the features being built are still focusing on customer needs and bringing in the MONEY!
Participants will then have the opportunity to work through their own scenarios in small groups. This will test their understanding of Customer-Based Design practices, Business Value Metrics, and the supporting worksheets.
The presenters will also demonstrate how these processes have been used to drive innovation on distributed, large-team agile projects with great success.
